Now I am certainly not a handyman of any shape or form. I am not really very good with using tools and honestly I don’t care about them. So that is why I never really thought I’d be purchasing a putty knife. But yet yesterday found me going to Ace Hardware to purchase a putty knife.
The reason I got the putty knife, well just look at the picture above. I used it to open up my Mac Mini so I could upgrade the paltry amount of RAM it comes with, which also was faulty. Of course Apple can’t be simple and just use a few screws to keep it together nope. They had to use interior clips to keep it all together. So to get those clips apart you need to use a putty knife to pry it apart. This sounds a lot harder than it actually is. It turned out to be a lot easier than I figured.
So now my little Mini has 2gb instead of the tiny 512mb. Up next you ask? Well as soon as they come in there is a 100gb 7200K RPM HD to replace the 80GB 5400K RPM drive in there, and then a wireless N airport card with an extra antenna is coming soon too. Eventually I am going to upgrade the processor also, but for now the Core Duo at 1.83Ghz will suffice.
